10 Facts About Me

1. I have a terrible fear of spiders

When I see one, I run for my life! Whenever we visit Uttarakhand, I am always on the lookout for spiders because I want to stay as far away from them as it's possible. There they can get really big, well, not really as big as their distant South American cousins, but they're scary as hell!

2. I used to binge on momos

Momo is a type of South Asian dumpling that makes you fat, like really fat. In Delhi, most of us are obsessed with momos. I was once too. But even though they are satisfying for short time, their long-term effects on the body are really dreadful, especially, when you're not exercising regularly.

3. I love music

Well, duh, who doesn't, right? But I take it to a whole new level, sorry to be boasting, allow me explain. I believe that music is beyond any language barriers, so I can listen to and enjoy Japanese, Korean, French, Punjabi, Haryanvi or even Bengali songs without even knowing the words. It's crazy!

4. I wrote my first short story in class 8th

I still remember parts of the story: "an alien race has visited the earth but nobody knows where they're hiding. Armies of different countries have tried but they have failed to find them but they know they are there, so the United Nations Army's preparing for the worst." The aliens, according to my story, were hiding deep underground, sucking the core of the earth, their fuel, as a result, slowly but surely destroying the earth. A slow death to humans, and they don't even know it, in simple words!

5. I wanted to become a cricketer

When I was young (and childish) I had dreamed of playing for the Indian Cricket Team. Back then we used to play cricket with a simple light-weight tennis ball, and so it seemed to be easy.

But then we grow older, reflexes diminish and we get to understand that leather-ball cricket is not for anyone and everyone. First, the ball travels really fast and second, as a result, it is a potent killer! In fact, my brother was once hurt badly because of the same.

6. I love dogs but I could never have one

We were students at Central Academy, Lucknow. One day, me and my brother were returning from school as usual and I happened to notice an adorable little puppy sitting on the side of the road. It seemed to be alone and we couldn't locate its mother. So we picked it up, gave it a name and brought him home. But since my mother had a strong dislike for dogs, we couldn't convince her. Surely in the future 🤞

7. I like to be around people

I hate it when I enter a Delhi Metro and all its coaches are empty. This may seem to be a weird fact about me but I cannot help it, okay! I think "people" add meaning to it. I cannot explain how but there is something strange about an empty train that bugs me. To put it simply, I love to see "faces" when I am travelling and not vacant chairs.

8. I used to sing in school band

Well, singing had always interested me anyway. In high school, our group of friends formed a casual boy band and performed english songs at most school functions. Bonus fact: "As long as you love me" by Backstreet Boys was the first english song I listened to. You can visit on this page to hear me sing.

9. I enjoy hiking and climbing

If you did not know this already, I am a "pahadi" or more specifically, a Kumaoni boy. Evidently, our house in Uttarakhand is surrounded by large picturesque mountains.

Nice scenery

The main road is situated at the top of this hill. When we get there, we have to come down in order to reach home. Here live my paternal grandparents, along with some "visiting" relative or the other, two cows and a dog.

Fun fact: our place is near the well known ashram of Neem Karoli Baba where tech-giants like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg had famously visited for a "spiritual" experience.

Since there is little internet connectivity here, to kill time I like to climb up the hill and take long solo tours along the road. I go as far as the nearest other village and return before it gets dark. I think I'm adventurous.

10. I have a cute birth defect

A dimple is a small natural indentation in the flesh on a part of the human body, most notably in the cheek or on the chin.

As you may be able to see in this picture, I have one on the left cheek. Most people I have met find it a unique, attractive trait and especially when I smile.

That's all folks! Write in the comments how you feel about me and be as honest as possible. Also, let me know a fact about you?
